See, at least when interviewing a player while they're on their way to the locker room, they aren't interrupting the flow of the game. I mean, granted, at this point I'd rather listen to what just about anybody else on the planet has to say about baseball than Tim McCarver, but still - a player could hit a home run or something while one of these guys is talking and it will be completely missed by the commentary team because John Smoltz is talking about how great it is for Tom Glavine to be back in Atlanta or whatever. There is a reason why almost nobody I know is satisfied with Fox or ESPN's coverage of baseball games, and it's because the people making these decisions have no respect for the fans who watch the most games. How has baseball coverage actually gotten worse than it was in the 80's and early 90's when technological advancements and a greater understanding for what works and what doesn't work in a baseball broadcast should have made them better? Actually I am going to save this for another blog item in the future, but my point remains - television coverage on a national basis for baseball stinks.

What really pissed me off was that the idiots in the Fox broadcasting booth spend a good half inning talking about ARod and his offseason. Now please, somebody explain what the hell ARod's contract situation has to do with a Mets/Braves game???

But I agree completely about the in-game interviews. The have angered me from the start. The NBA was the first to do it a couple years back-- they'd interview players on their way to the locker room during halftime. It angered me to an unreasonable level, and now this is even worse.
