Well as it turns out, Feliciano wasn't available for this game - he wasn't introduced before the game to the crowd so I guess this shouldn't have been a surprise. Still, I stand by my statement earlier; he should have used his best reliever in that spot, and leaving a specialist in the game to pitch to two switch hitters was asking for trouble. He may have gotten heat in the press if he had used Heilman before the 8th inning, but I would have respected him a lot more for using his best reliever in the toughest spot than I do for using his 5th or 6th best reliever (at best) in to pitch to the Phillies' best hitters. It's weak and it's cowardly. At this rate, if the Mets continue to play under .500 ball, Willie will be fired by May, and with this kind of talent, it will be his own fault.

It's always sad to lose. It's more sad to lose a home opener. It's MOST said to lose a home opener when you're watching your game with your friends.

I really don't understand why the Mets bats seem to fade away against the Philly bullpen. Every team in baseball pounds on them, but when Romero or Gordon or Madsen or any other crappy washed-up Silly pitcher faces the Mets it's the end of the game. I hate it.
