No update today – again

I haven’t been able to access my Blogger account all day, which is why I got no update up. Don’t worry, I’ll post some links tomorrow sometime, and will get a nightly game recap for you.

In a bit of Mets-inspired news today, I finally picked up the DVDs for the ‘86 World Series today. What I’d like to do is review every single DVD in the package one at a time on Mets off days, so that way I’m watching the Mets even when they’re not playing. Now, I was not a huge baseball fan in 1986 by any stretch of the imagination. All I recall is, when I was seven, watching part of the Series with my grandfather, but it wasn’t like I watched an entire game or anything. But I didn’t really start getting into bsaeball until 1989 (which was right after the first Mets’ glory era ended; what a great time to jump on the bandwagon, eh?) so I will be watching each of these games for the first time.

Though I’ve read about them since, I’ve never actually watched them, so my reactions to these games will be my first reactions to ever having seen them live. I can’t wait to start this, it’s something I’m actually very excited about. The first DVD in the set is Game 6 of the NLCS between the Mets and Astros. It just figures that the first game of the set is the longest game in the history of baseball playoffs, huh? Anyway, I look forward to sitting down and watching that, and it looks like that will be a week from today, on May 22nd. It looks like I would be finishing this project up during the All Star break, so it’s a nice gimmick that should help keep the site full of content on non-Mets game nights for the next few months.

Also, I’m going to do another Live Game Update this coming Sunday night, when the Mets play the Yankees. I liked the first one I did, though I felt like I could improve the format some, and have some ideas about changing that come Sunday that I think will help it flow a little better. Plus, Mets/Yankees just seems like an appropriate game to bring that idea back for, so we’ll see how it goes. Hopefully, this one will end with a Mets victory, unlike the last one.

That’s about all for tonight, sorry about not getting anything up today, we’ll amend that with some stuff tomorrow, see you then.
