I’m not going to complain about this. I was a little more worried when it was a two year deal, but for one year, $7.5 million? That’s not too bad; if he plays, he is an upgrade over Cliff Floyd. If he doesn’t play, he IS Cliff Floyd. He gives the Mets right handed power in the lineup to go along with the tough lefties they have, and they really don’t even need him to do much, just offer some more protection to the lefties. He also gives Willie a lot of interesting lineup options. I wasn’t liking this much for two years, but for one year? The worst that happens is he gives them the exact same thing they got out of Floyd. While I’d like for the Mets to look for one player under 38 years old, this isn’t too bad at all.
